FREDERICTON, NEW BRUNSWICK - When we speak of family, we often speak of "ties that bind." Now family ties can be one thing, but when you combine these with spiritual ties, the results can be simply amazing.
This family ministry began for the LaPointes when their dad, Bill, "retired" after celebrating his 50th year of singing gospel music with the Gospelaires. It was at this point that these four members of the LaPointe family decided to carry on with the tradition begun by their Dad...
The LaPointes. Joel, Janice, Jeff & Andy.
Janice's Mum and Dad fondly remember their little girl, in her rocking chair, singing gospel music by the hour. Janice has used her voice to lift HIS name in song ever since.
She joined the Gospelaires at the tender age of sixteen, and this eventually led to the development of three successful solo albums. You may have seen Janice performing on the internationally televised Day of Discovery television program. It is an opportunity that has taken her as far as Israel, England, Scotland and throughout North America. Janice has performed with a variety of artists, including Ray Boltz, the late Gene McLellan, Anthony Burger, David Robertson, and arrangers Dan Smith and Lari Goss. She is also a prolific songwriter. Among her work, is the title song of the Dove Award nominated album The Gift, by Anthony Burger. Janice LaPointe McLaughlin and her husband Jeep, a business owner, live in Moncton, New Brunswick with their two sweet children, Jana and Jacob.
Joel has always had a love for music and a desire to express his heart through song.
"it is such an honor and privilege that God allows us to reach people's hearts through our music."
After accepting Christ at age 19, Joel began singing for the Lord at local churches, in varying vocal combinations. During his eight years as a member of the Gospelaires, he was involved with several recordings and television appearance. In addition, Joel has had the privilege of being featured soloist at the Annual United Baptist Convention of the Atlantic Provinces and has also performed at recent Promise Keepers meetings. Joel continues to be very involved in his home church and resides in Fredericton, New Brunswick, where he is a senior partner in a real estate appraisal and consulting firm. He and his wife, Elaine, have three wonderful sons, Mitchell, Jordan, and Jesse.
While Jeff's desire to sing for the Lord has always been in his heart, it didn't really come to fruition until just recently.
"After re-dedicating my life to Christ at the age of 27, I finally realized I had to begin letting God use me for His service, in His own way," says Jeff. The LaPointes truly gives Jeff a unique opportunity to witness and use his abilities for Christ. In his home church, Jeff has done solo work, and participated in drama. Jeff, his wife Kimberley, and son Benjamin reside in Fredericton, New Brunswick, where Jeff is a civil engineering technologist.
As a young boy, Andy vividly recalls being in the front pew of many a church, listening intently and singing his heart out along with his "Dad's gospel group."
Music continues to be an important part of Andy's life. He has sung, and performed in a variety of musical groups and productions since the age of 17. His work has taken him from solos in his church to several leading roles in music dramas, along with radio and television experience. Andy writes and arranges music for the LaPointes and also manages the group. In addition he finds that "it is such an honor and privilege that God allows us to reach people's hearts through our music." Andy lives with his wife, Brookee (and their beloved puppy, Josh) in Fredericton, New Brunswick, where Andy works as a pharmacist.
The LaPointes draw upon a wide range of musical experience to bring you a sound that is uniquely their own. From beautiful acappella hymns to more contemporary arrangements, their music is such that it relates on a personal level to people of all ages. From the moment this family group began singing together, God has richly blessed their ministry.
Already they have...
