Clucky says, "An EGG is an Exceptional Godly Gig!"

   Antidote

AUSTIN -  Antidote is Jorge and Leigh Goyco from Austin, Texas.  They've been married since October 1994 and have two dogs.  They consider their music style to be Electronic/Dance/Trip Hop/Funky/Acid/Trance.

Antidote sees God using them to minister to unsaved kids in the dance clubs and Rave scene, as well as encourage Christians to a deeper, more sincere relationship with God.  In other words, Antidote is straight-forward enough that everyone will know where they stand in their beliefs and be able to grow as a result.  They are famous for their creative rave tracks and the flyers they produce which have a message of salvation aimed at the underground scene.

Antidote has played in and around the Midwest area for 2 years, as well as Cornerstone '97 & '98 in Bushnell, Illinois and were invited to TOM Fest '98 in Kaufman, Texas.  Other events include gigs in Washington State, Oklahoma City, Florida, and Puerto Rico. Their booking agents are Christgroove Artist Management.  Antidote has created a substantial buzz in the underground scene through the pre-release of 2 previous demos and has sold over 400 copies of past projects independently.

They were first heard on the N*Soul compilation "Eclectica" released in late 1997, and they've gotten some very enthusiastic responses.  They are also on the "Future Sounds of Faith: N*Soul Sampler 2".  Antidote's story (A Christian Techno Band Getting Signed) was featured on the MTV program called "MTV News Unfiltered".  It has since aired more than a dozen times and the transcript is online at MTV's website.

Antidote's live performance consists of Jorge spinning Antidote tracks on a dual CD mixer along with strange noises and interludes and recorded samples of sermons being preached right along with the music.  They've also got some cool 1960s-70s educational films and some loops that have been mixed and intertwined onto video that can be projected onto a wall or played on TVs.

The Lord had them create music that is teeming with everything the dance music connoisseur needs, and more importantly, a message by which to be inspired.

Differences, Changes and Remixes comparing Antidote's "What Mountain?" and "Fight or Flight":

"Fight or Flight" boasts 73 minutes of hyped-up God-praising Dance music.  Mostly made up of new songs created since the PreRelease, "Fight or Flight" is arguably one of the best recent albums by Antidote.

The styles of the tracks on "Fight or Flight" range from Jungle to Drum and Bass to Funky Breakbeat to Hard Trance to Trip Hop.  Antidote feels the need to give their audience a spectrum of genres of dance music making the listening experience far from repetitive and never boring.

The lyric songs "Debris" and "Everywhere I Go" were on the PreRelease, and are also on the full release, but are remixed.

Antidote performed the early versions at several shows and got feedback, remixed them and performed them again and the kids went crazy.  They really liked that they were more danceable and more exciting and move-inducing.  The remixes are mostly in the form of a hard kick bass and some cymbal work that really makes the songs pop.

A new lyric song is "Decrease" whose jerky jungle sound contrasts a beautifully harmonized and echo-y message of obedience to Christ.  This song was picked by a well-known (non Christian) dance music historian and critic (Simon Reynolds: Generation Ecstasy) as his favorite on the CD.

"Always" is the final song on the CD with it's smooth but charging Trip Hop beat.  Jorge asks the listener to join him in a heartfelt prayer to God of total focus on Him.  "Lord, I will run to you".

All of the other tracks are performed with samples of preachers preaching a message of hope or a promise of God or a call to pray and live for the Lord.  The listener will be obligated to listen to the Spirit that will inevitably speak through this music.  The listener will be called to ask him or herself if he or she is doing ALL he or she can for the Lord.  The non-Christian listener will be convicted of the truth, and the love that is possible from God.

The program goes back and forth from lyric song to meditation song, never leaving the listener stranded with nothing to think about.

Why did Antidote do it like this?  Well, before they started making this music, they were in the same boat as many admittedly are now, listening to cutting edge Christian dance music but not being filled with God's messages.  That's where Antidote comes in.  The Lord had them create music that is teeming with everything the dance music connoisseur needs, and more importantly, a message by which to be inspired.

Antidote will encourage their audience to use "Fight or Flight" as a ministry tool.  The music is imbibed with the messages that will plant seeds of love.  A message that leads the reader to salvation through Jesus Christ is printed on the inside.  They are priced low, so buy extra copies and give them away.

God bless to all you ravers out there.  Pray While You Dance!
